Information We Collect

Account Information

• Email address — required for account creation and notifications
• Display name — shown publicly on your Seeks and activity
• Password — stored as a one-way bcrypt hash; we cannot read it

Marketplace Activity

• Seeks you post: item details, condition, budget, images
• Offers you submit: asking price, condition notes, card images
• Timestamps of account creation and activity

Automatically Collected

• Anonymous visitor ID stored in localStorage for analytics (no cookies)
• Page views and feature usage for product improvement (no identifiable tracking)

How We Use Your Information

• To operate the marketplace and process Seeks and offers
• To authenticate your account and secure your session
• To send transactional emails (offer notifications, account confirmations, dispute updates)
• To send occasional marketing emails about new features or marketplace updates (you can unsubscribe at any time)
• To process payments and prevent fraud via Stripe
• To improve the product based on aggregate usage patterns
• To comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not use your data for advertising.

Cookies & Local Storage

See-King does not use tracking cookies. We use localStorage (browser-side) for:

• Authentication token — keeps you logged in (JWT, expires in 7 days)
• User session data — your display name for the nav bar
• Anonymous visitor ID — a random UUID for aggregate analytics only

You can clear this data at any time by clearing your browser's site data for this domain.

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services. Each has its own privacy policy:

• Stripe — payment processing. When you complete a transaction, Stripe collects your payment card information directly. See-King never stores your full card number, CVV, or billing address. Stripe's handling of your data is governed by the Stripe Privacy Policy. We receive only a confirmation of payment, the last four digits of your card, and your billing email.
• Neon (PostgreSQL) — database hosting. Your data is stored in their infrastructure.
• Render — application hosting. Server logs may include IP addresses temporarily.
• Cloudflare R2 — image storage for card photos you upload.
• Google Fonts — font delivery (standard font CDN request).

We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any behavioral advertising trackers.

Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. Seeks and offers are retained to maintain marketplace integrity and history. If you delete your account, your personal information is removed; anonymized transaction records may be retained for fraud prevention.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you
• Correction — update inaccurate account information
• Deletion — request that we delete your account and associated data
• Portability — receive your data in a machine-readable format
• Objection — object to certain uses of your data

Data Security

We take security seriously. Passwords are hashed with bcrypt. Authentication uses signed JWT tokens. All connections use HTTPS/TLS. Database connections use SSL. We do not store payment card information (payments are handled by third-party processors if applicable).

No system is 100% secure. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately.

Children's Privacy

See-King is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it promptly.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be noted with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of See-King after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
